Our MISSION & approach.
Since CASE was established in September 2017, we have had many aspirational goals to work towards and future plans for events to help us reach them! We often collaborate with other societies, activists and AUSA officers in order to do so, and to ensure our work meets our high standards of inclusivity, accessibility and intersectionality. The ultimate aim of our work is to implement a strong and enduring culture of consent that will encourage both the decrease of sexual assaults on campus and a safer environment for survivors to come forward. How will we work towards achieving our overarching goal? Here’s some future plans!
- Amending the outdated sexual assault policy at the University.
- Implementing official University Measures to deal with assaults. This includes improving and making more accessible the reporting system and bringing an end to perpetrators’ impunity.
- Affiliate CASE with Rape Crisis Grampian Aberdeen to receive training on how to support survivors, and/or lobby to bring in a sexual-assault specialised counsellor from an external body who will be able to greater meet the needs of survivors than the current system.
- Work with NUS Scotland to provide consent education workshops and bystander intervention trainings.
- Promote safer sex on campus through ensuring contraceptive access for all.
- Raise awareness about LGBTQ+ sex and sexual assault within this community. We wish to work directly with the LGBTQ+ Forum to find out more about the prevalence of assault and bring this issue to the forefront of our campaign.
- Host an evolving series of workshops on topics related to creating a culture of consent in academia.
- See our UPCOMING EVENTS page for more information about future plans.
